CNC Machinist – Mazak Integrex / MSY Lathe – 2nd Shift

Calibration Technician

Summary
Maintain, tests, calibrates, and repairs a variety of mechanical measuring and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards to ensure the accuracy of the measurements taken by these instruments or equipment. Assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties. Reports to The Quality Control Manager.
Duties
·  Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment.
·  Sets up standard and special purpose equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
·  Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
·  Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
·  Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
·  Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain calibration records using software or spreadsheets in order to provide evidence of accuracy, repairs and usage for all instruments and equipment.
  • Communicates with Customers and Vendors, as needed, to coordinate logistics for transfer, shipping or delivery of instruments and equipment at the direction of the Quality Manager or Quality Control Manager.
·  Assists Quality Control Manager and Engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.

  • Evaluates engineering drawings, specifications, orders, and related documentation for conformance to established guidelines and initiates requests for changes to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Reviews engineering data and production related documents to qualify manufacturing processes, tooling, and work holding requirements.
  • Create drawings for work holding and gauging solutions to support quality control requirements.
  • Maintains an electronic library of part drawings and associated manufacturing information to ensure conformance to the latest revision level and eliminate non-conforming documentation.
  • Identifies and documents revision changes and distributes information to companywide departments and outside vendors, to promote informed throughput of manufacturing processes.
  • Prepares detailed work instructions for proven manufacturing methods and maintains organized storage of these processes for easy access by others within the organization.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering field.
  • 2 years minimum experience related to manufacturing, preferred.

Position Description CNC Machinist 2nd Shift (Mon-Thur 4:15pm-2:45am) CNC machinists work with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic or other materials. Computer numeric controlled equipment is precision machinery that cuts, grinds, or drills into the material. CNC machinists make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product. They look at the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production. General Job Description: Under direct supervision, Set up and operate manual and programmable bandsaws. Operate light-duty bench or floor type production equipment, sanding, finishing and deburring tools. Operate machines following standard Work Instruction. Perform saw set ups, selecting speeds and feeds, changing blades and making adjustments. Works from specific instructions as set out in the Manufacturing Plan. Inspects machining operations against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools or gauging. Documents inspection results, production time and quantity and scrap on required forms. Key Competency Requirements: • Hold tolerance to +/- .005” or greater • Proficiency with basic inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measure, go-no go gauges) • Possesses basic math skills • Requires minimum 2 years basic metal-working machine shop experience.
